Flatulence is normally caused by different beverages and foods, constipation, swallowed air, medical conditions, and medications.

While doctors have not specified any particular definition of flatulence in excess, if it bothers your social life and makes you uncomfortable, you must consider reducing it. You can try avoiding foods which have a high content of non-absorbable carbohydrates. Some of the common culprit foods are pulses, beans, broccoli, prunes, cabbage, and foods with high sugar. These foods take longer to digest and also release some quantity of sulphur gas during their passage through the gut.

Other forms of avoiding gas are to eat slowly, avoid smoking, and overeating. If the problem persists for a longer time that is intolerable, the best advice is to see a physician.
