It can be caused by improper movement and strained muscles. Most of these conditions can be fixed easily, but because of various structures, it is best to exclude all the possibilities. Either if it’s a sharp pain or a mild one, it can cause discomfort and make you less productive. So, let’s find out some of the possible causes.

Muscle strain

Sometimes, when you don’t stretch and warm up your muscles, a sudden move can result in a muscle strain. This can be very unpleasant starting with stabbing pain inside the groin. Since it can be pretty painful, it can immediately stop you from further activity. This kind of condition often affects the inside of the leg, which contains the adductor muscles. When you flex your leg or rotate it in a certain way, it can stretch the adductor longus, adductor brevis, adductor magnus, muscle gracilus and pectineous. There are also other muscles included in the rotation and knee movement, like psoas which flexes the hip.

Inguinal Hernia

If you ever felt a discomfort in the groin area followed up with a bulge, you could be suffering from an inguinal hernia. It is a condition which occurs when there is a weakened muscle in your groin through which a structure can pass and create a bump on your inner thigh surface. Besides weak muscle wall, other risk factors are a chronic cough, frequent standing, constipation, pregnancy, obesity, premature birth, etc. It can be painful with a burning sensation. It can also increase in size when you cough or when you’re having a hard stool and constipation. A pressure that worsens the condition is the key here. It doesn’t have to be a serious condition, but there are some complications which can result in a higher chance of recurrence.

Hip Impingement

An inner thigh pain can happen due to hip impingement. It is a condition where the femur ball doesn’t slide in its socket resulting in compression. In the joint, there is a structure between the bone and the cartilage known as labrum, which stands for the edge of the cartilage. It any of these structures gets out of their place, it can cause hip disorder and eventually pain. It is believed that hip impingement or femoro-acetabular impingement (FAI) is the main cause of the osteoarthritis in those under the age of 40. You may not feel the pain at the start of this condition. But as it progresses, you will start to develop pain movements even in low amplitude moves. As the cushion wears out, it leads to arthritis. This is a progressive disease, but there are some treatments for the alleviation of the symptoms.

Osteoarthritis

It is a disease affecting millions of people. It presents with cushion thinning and joint friction. When the head of the femur takes its pressure on the ilium, it results in pain which can progress more during the night. Osteoarthritis can affect all the joints in the body, where they can get sore and swollen. It is a degenerative disease with no cure. It gets worse with time and it progresses with stiffness, pain, tenderness and lack of movement. It is best to try to stay active and retain good weight to prevent the excessive pressure from further damage.

Kidney Stones

When there is a high concentration of crystals in the urine, there is a high risk of kidney stones. This kind of stones can be made of out calcium, uric acid, and other substances. It can obstruct the urinary tract and end up with painful urination and hematuria. Because renal colics are being described as one of the most painful sensations, they can spread from the back and radiate towards the inner part of the thigh and groin region. Most kidney stones will pass the kidney part and will get stuck in the urethra if the size is too big for it to go through. There are possible treatments, but the outcome is positive, despite complications.

Osteosarcoma

Osteosarcoma is a malignant tumor of the bone structure. It is more common in young age, and it can affect all genders and bone structures. It is often found in the femur, humerus, and chin. It can present with dull pain in the bone structure, radiating towards the surrounding structures. If the femur gets affected by it, it can result in inner thigh pain and groin redness, tender skin and discomfort.

Possible Treatment For Inner Thigh Pain

Muscle Strain

The first thing when it comes to the muscle being stretched is to discontinue any activity. Keep your leg elevated to prevent the edema from occurring and place a cold padding on the affected area to cool down the inflammation. This will reduce the swelling and it will help with the pain management. At first, you should rest and even immobilize the leg to take the pressure off and to help with muscle relaxation. After these first symptoms withdraw, you should try and stretch the muscle to prevent muscle shortening. When the muscle fibers break or when they are damaged, they tend to short in size due to the multiplication of the connective tissue. They can shrink which can lead to leg congregation. In any case, you should contact a doctor for the proper treatment regime and you may need a physician’s help.

Inguinal Hernia

The first remedy for a hernia is prevention. Even if you’re already suffering from this condition, you should follow this advice. To stop constipation and prevent further pressure, eat food that is rich in fibers, get rid of fast food and carbonated drinks. You should drink plenty of water and hydrate yourself properly. If you’re having a chronical cough, you should try and find a remedy for it to prevent any hernia complications. Restrain yourself from lifting any heavy objects and try to keep it tight if you are having any work with extra pressure. The bottom line is that you’re probably going to end up opting for surgery since it’s the only effective therapy.

Hip Impingement

There are a few treatments to opt for. First, your doctor may advise you to rest and to modify your movement to avoid the angles that are causing the pain. In addition, he may recommend physical therapy and some painkillers and anti-inflammatory meds. If the treatment ends up being unsuccessful, he may suggest surgery procedure.

Osteoarthritis

Being degenerative disease, it doesn’t have a cure. The only therapy possibility is to reduce the symptoms and manage pain. It is recommended to obtain optimal weight in order to prevent joint load. It is good to have a certain activity like swimming and walking, but moderately. There are also some painkillers which can be prescribed for patients suffering from osteoarthritis.

Kidney Stones

If they are large in size, they can produce pain and other complications. If it doesn’t leave the body by itself, there are some treatments for it. Besides taking medication to ease the pain, you should hydrate yourself really well. There are also some procedures such as lithotripsy, which uses sound waves to dissolve the stone into smaller pieces so it’s easier to excrete it.

Osteosarcoma

It is usually treated with surgery resection, followed up with chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Patients who have a better response to chemotherapy have a better rate of survival. This type of therapy is based on a combination of a few meds.
