Olive Oil on Face

Olive oil is a popular product that has been used for centuries. Today, not only is it still popular but it is widely used in the cosmetic industry. Olive oil has been noted to be very rich in mineral, natural fatty acids and vitamins. The product is also convenient for people who have some sensitive skin.  The natural product has powerful ingredients that are used in anti-aging products. Not only is it rich antioxidants but it can prevent the aging of the skin. It is also good in preventing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This is on top of the fact that it nourishes, protects and rejuvenates the skin.

Loaded with vitamin A and E, the natural product can help to prolong youth while maintaining the softness and elasticity of the skin. Olive oil also helps in the regeneration of skin cells. This means that there are unlimited benefits of using olive oil for the skin. Let’s look at these benefits more deeply and how to use olive oil on face.

When olive oil is applied onto the face, it will penetrate deep into the skin providing the much needed moisture and protecting the skin. It also helps to keep the skin smooth. The antioxidant effect of olive oil can help repair any damage on the skin as a result of cigarette smoke, sun exposure and pollutants. It is recommended that when using olive oil as a moisturizer, you should massage the natural oil into the skin while the skin is still a little bit damp. The water on the skin will help to prevent the skin from feeling greasy after you have applied olive oil.

Exfoliating the skin

In order to make that natural exfoliant, mix some extra virgin olive oil with some sea water.  This can be a very good exfoliant particularly for people who have dry and scaly skin. You should massage the exfoliator into the area that has been affected by scaliness and dryness. This mixture will help to remove the old and dry skin while revealing the younger underneath skin. Olive oil was used by ancient Romans, Egyptians and Phoenicians as a beauty aid.

Skin Elasticity

When massaged slightly onto the skin, olive oil can help to improve the elasticity of the skin. It is not necessary for you to limit yourself to external application. You can incorporate the natural product into your diet. This way you will benefit the whole body. It is recommended that when buying olive oil whether to include it as part of your diet or to apply on the skin, you should buy the formulation that is made of extra virgin oil. This is simply because extra virgin olive oil contains high nutritional values due to its limited processing.

Removal of eye makeup

Olive oil can be used to remove eye makeup. You should put a drop or two of the natural oil on a cotton swab and use it to remove eye makeup. Ensure that you remove the makeup in a gentle manner and do not pull the delicate skin around the eyes. When used in the right manner, olive oil will help to make the skin softer especially when you use it consistently to remove makeup.

Acne treatment

Acne is a major challenge for many people. The condition is usually marked by an oily skin that accompanies the pimples. It may seem counter-intuitive to add more oil to an already oily face. However, dermatologists suggest that it can really work. Al you need to do is to massage olive oil on the face while focusing on the most affected area. You should then place a wet and hot washcloth over the face for a period of at least 10 minutes. This will enable the heat to open up pores and soak away olive oil. You can repeat using hot towel treatment by gently rubbing the oil over the face. You should then pat the skin dry before applying more oil. Use a clean towel to blot out the olive oil.

Wash your face

You can also use olive oil to wash your face. Massage the olive oil on the face for around 3 minutes. Ensure that the oil gets into the lines and creases. Ensure that it soaks into the skin by placing a towel over the face for around 10 minutes. Rinse your face with cold water after removing the towel.

Face masks

If you would like to brighten and cleanse your skin, use olive oil as a face mask. The face mask will also play an important role in moisturizing your skin. The application method will depend on various types of skin.

  • Normal skin. Make a mixture containing half cucumber oil, half cup curd and a half spoon olive oil. You should blend this mixture before applying on your face. Allow it to settle for a period of 15 minutes before washing it away using lukewarm water. To achieve that soft and supple skin, you should repeat this procedure once per week.
  • Dry skin. Make a mixture of one tablespoon of flour, one egg yolk and a half spoon of olive oil. Ensure that you put enough olive oil to enable the mixture to spread over the face. Apply this mixture on the face and allow it to settle for 20 minutes. Wash away using lukewarm water. After this process, be sure to moisturize the skin using olive oil. Repeat the process twice in a week to get the best results.
  • Oily skin Make a mixture containing half a cup of oatmeal, half cup sour milk, sea salt and half tablespoon olive oil. Apply this paste on the face and allow it to settle for a period of 15 minutes. Rinse away using lukewarm water.
  • All other skin types. For individuals who have combination skin, they should try a face mask containing olive oil. Mix one tablespoon sandalwood powder, a half teaspoon turmeric and olive oil. Apply the paste on your face and allow it to settle for a period of 30 minutes before washing away using lukewarm water. Apply olive oil as a moisturizer when you are done.

With all these benefits, you can see why olive oil is a magic product for the face.
