Bananas are a great fruit that have a very unique taste that makes them many individuals favorite. They are nutritious, low in calories, high in fiber, rich in potassium, and starchy which help give you energy. However, potatoes are thick and gummy in nature and because of this one may wonder – “Do bananas make you constipated?”
Actually it is kinda tricky to determine if bananas will make you constipated or not. Everyone’s digestive system is unique and with that comes many variables that may impact whether or not the bananas won’t impact your ability to have a healthy bowel movement or if it may literally gum up the works and make it difficult for you to pass stool.
Let’s determine if you have any issues that would make you more prone to constipation caused by eating bananas:
- Do you get constipated easy?
- Is your diet rich in high fiber foods, vegetables, and fruits?
- Do you eat a lot of starchy foods like potatoes, pasta, and cheese?
- Have you ever noticed do bananas make you constipated when you have eaten them recently?
If you are prone to constipation, you may just want to watch how many bananas you consume in a small period of time. if your diet is filled with cheeses and other starchy foods that are not too high in fiber- we would advise that you watch eating bananas too.
Otherwise, if everything else is normal and you have never experienced constipation when consuming bananas- you have nothing to worry about.
Just be sure to eat a diet high in fiber, drink lots of fluids, and remember eating vegetables and fruits every day can also help keep you regular so that bananas DO not make you constipated.
