We are already very aware of the positive benefits vitamin E can have on the body when ingested and as well as proving to reduce the risks of brain damage caused by strokes, boosting your immune system and even reducing the chances of you getting certain cancers, this oil has also shown to be very beneficial to the skin, making it one of the number one ingredients for many skin care products.
Vitamin E oil is great for the skin with a whole host of benefits from preventing wrinkles, evening out complexion and skin tone, improving collagen production and more. However, it’s quite a complex ingredient and isn’t one that will suit everyone. It’s a heavy oil so those with skin prone to breaking out in spots, or those with bad cases of acne, may find that this oil worsens it.
The good news is that you can combine vitamin E oil with a whole number of other ingredients to ensure you find a way of using it that works for you and combats the problems you’re trying to overcome.
If you want to moisturize with vitamin E oil…
You can combine vitamin E oil with other ingredients like honey to make a face mask that will work as an excellent and incredibly hydrating moisturizer for your skin.
If you don’t want to use vitamin E oil directly on the skin (which you can do by dripping it on to a cotton wall ball and gently wiping over the face), you can mix 1 teaspoon of the oil with 1 teaspoon of honey, 1 teaspoon of olive oil and 1 egg yolk. Smear all over the affected areas of your face, the dry areas that are in need of moisturizing, leave for 15 to 20 minutes and then wash off with warm water and pat dry with a soft towel.
Never rub your face dry because it will damage the soft tissue that makes up your skin.
You could also consider combining your vitamin E oil with banana, mashing the two ingredients together and using the same method – apply, leave for 20 minutes and then wash off. You’ll be looking at using approximately four capsules of vitamin E oil for every medium sized banana.
If you want to treat sunburnt skin…
Vitamin E oil not only works as a toning agent but is also commonly found in many treatments for sunburnt skin and there’s a good reason for that. This is where things get a little technical.
When your skin is exposed to the powerful ultraviolet rays of the sun, things called free radicals are introduced into your body and it is these that can cause cancers. These are molecules considered to be unstable, making themselves bigger and stronger by ‘stealing’ electrodes from the other healthier molecules in the body, and in order to combat these you need to start looking at using antioxidants, something vitamin E contains in abundance.
Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that give these free radicals electrons so that they don’t steal them from other healthy areas of your body. Your healthy molecules are left healthy and fit to fight off other bugs and nasties.
When you use vitamin E oil directly out of the fridge, the soothing relief will be immediate. The antioxidants will get to work on ‘feeding’ those free radicals so they don’t damage your body, the collagen and elastin will be increased to prevent scarring and wrinkling of the skin, and the nutritional value helps to feed the cells with proteins to rejuvenate themselves quicker, this healing the skin quicker.
Vitamin E oil can be used both as a cure for sunburnt skin but also a preventative measure, giving yourself an extra layer of protection in the hottest months.
Not just treating sunburnt skin, vitamin E oil can also help to fight back against cancers, particular skin cancers.
If you want to use vitamin E oil in anti-aging…
Because of the anti-oxidant properties and the fact that vitamin E oil can help to protect the skin, and even fix the skin, from sun damage, you can understand why it can be used for anti-aging also.
The aging process naturally happens because the skin becomes damaged and it starts to lose its elasticity. Sagging will happen which can lead to wrinkles, and you’ll also find that the skin isn’t as nutritional-packed as it once was, causing it to look grey.
By using vitamin E oil in your beauty regime, you are pumping the skin full of nutrients directly. You aren’t ingesting vitamins in the hope they reach your skin. Usually ingested vitamins are used for other, more important functions within the body first, and your skin is often neglected when your diet is lacking.
Used as a preventative measure as well as a cure, vitamin E oil, when used on the face, will help you fight back against the aging process. It will hydrate and moisturize the skin which in turn will leave it nutritionally-happy. The skin cells will be plump and healthy and this will mean that elastin and collagen production is increased too. When all this happens, your skin looks glowing and fresh. Vitamin E oil can help with that.
If you want to use vitamin E oil to get rid of scars…
In the same way that vitamin E can help with things like wrinkles and the aging process, it can also help to minimize the appearance of scars and for the most part, because of the hydration and nutrition factor.
There haven’t been any scientific studies to prove whether or not vitamin E oil can help reduce scars but many people, particularly women, have reported using it and having positive results. Because of the all-natural makeup of this beauty treatment, there will be no harm caused if you give it a go. It might work, it might not but at least your skin will definitely by hydrated and well loved for a while!
You should not use this oil on a fresh wound or scar. It’ll hurt a lot more than anything else!
There are a number of ways you can use vitamin E oil in your beauty treatment. As well as the things we have already mention you will also find it useful for things like fading birth marks and also skin imprecations or uneven skin tone. It can be used to both cleanse and tone your face as well as other areas of the body, and it makes a great base oil to mix with other ingredients for a whole number of beauty benefits. You can even mix vitamin E oil with essential oils to bring aromatherapy into the mix.
You will need to bear a few things in mind if you want to use vitamin E oil in your beauty regime:
- Using vitamin E oil will NOT give you results overnight and you will need to use it regularly and over time to see maximum results.
- You should always check for an allergic reaction prior to using any homemade / DIY treatment. You should apply your beauty product to a small patch of your skin, wash it off, and then monitor it for at least 24 hours to ensure that you don’t come up in a rash / it doesn’t turn red / you start to experience irritation, etc.
- Never get vitamin E oil in your eyes. It can help for dark circles around the eyes but stings when it comes into contact with them. If you do get vitamin E oil in your eyes, rinse it out immediately with cool, clean water.
- When using vitamin E oil on your face, make sure you wash it off with warm water. Just like other oils, cold water will not remove all residue and a build up of it can lead to acne and very oily skin.
- As with most homemade beauty products, make sure you use the best ingredients and always do your research first. Never use vitamin E face treatments more regularly than two times per week.
